Although victory escaped Mickey Lolich, the Tigers were able to beat the Twins, 5-4, when Mickey Stanley walked in the 10th inning and scored on a double by Gates Brown. Lolich had a 4-3 lead going into the ninth and was removed when Bobby Darwin doubled for the Twins' fourth hit of the game.

Chuck Seelbach relieved and retired the next two batters. When Fred Scherman was brought in to pitch to Rich Reese, the Twins switched to George Mitterwald, who singled to drive in the tying run. [The Sporting News]
