Randy Hundley hit his first homer in two years to break a 1-1 tie and send the Cubs on their way to a 3-1 victory over the Padres. Going to the other extreme, Hundley had the misfortune of hitting into a triple play in the ninth inning.

After Carmen Fanzone was safe on an error and Jose Cardenal singled, Hundley grounded to Sergio Robles, who tagged Fanzone and threw to Derrel Thomas to force Cardenal. Thomas' relay to Nate Colbert at first arrived in time to retire Hundley. [The Sporting News]
