Helping himself at bat with a decisive homer, Dave Roberts was the winner when the Astros defeated the Phillies, 4-3. The Astros picked up two runs in the first inning and added the other pair in the fourth when Jimmy Stewart doubled and Roberts hit his homer. The Phillies rallied for their runs on three hits and a walk in the ninth inning before Fred Gladding put out the fire in relief of Roberts. [The Sporting News]
