. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Vida Blue was lifted in the seventh inning on the short end of a 2-1 score, but the Athletics took their southpaw off the hook by rallying to defeat the Indians, 7-2. Singles by Buddy Bell and Chris Charnbliss chased Blue. After Darold Knowles relieved, an unsuccessful fielder's choice on a grounder by Jack Brohamer loaded the bases. Rollie Fingers put down the threat without a run scoring when Vince Colbert hit into a double play via the plate and Eddie Leon struck out.

In the eighth, Joe Rudi doubled to drive in the tying run and Sal Bando sent the A's ahead with a single. The A's then iced the game with four more runs in the ninth, three scoring on a homer by Reggie Jackson. [The Sporting News]
