Six straight singles, followed by an error and a sacrifice fly, produced six runs for the Yankees in the third inning of a 7-5 victory over the Rangers. Steve Kline, Horace Clarke and Rusty Torres rapped the first three singles to load the bases. Bobby Murcer singled to drive in the first run.

Roy White and Felipe Alou followed with singles, sending in two runs apiece. Alou took second on the peg to the plate, continued to third when the throw went wild and scored on a sacrifice fly by Thurman Munson. [The Sporting News]
