. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Although Steve Carlton gave up eight hits to five allowed by Ron Reed, the Phillies were able to defeat the Braves, 3-1. The Phillies broke into the scoring column with two runs in the fourth inning on a walk to Oscar Gamble, singles by Willie Montanez and Tim McCarver and a wild pitch by Reed. A walk to Larry Bowa, sacrifice by Carlton, single by Denny Doyle and sacrifice fly by Gamble added a run in the fifth. [The Sporting News]
