The White Sox smashed five homers, including three in one inning, to win the first game of a doubleheader, 8-4, and then completed the sweep by beating the Brewers in the second game, 5-4, on a bases-loaded single by Carlos May in the ninth inning. In the opener, Dick Allen hit two homers for the White Sox and Luis Alvarado, Mike Andrews and Ed Herrmann rapped one apiece. Alvarado connected in the third inning. After a single by Stan Bahnsen and forceout by Pat Kelly, Andrews and Allen followed with round-trippers. George Scott and Dave May homered for the Brewers.

There was only one circuit clout in the nightcap, Kelly hitting it for the White Sox with a man on base in the fifth inning after the Brewers had jumped off to a 4-0 lead. Carlos May doubled and scored in the sixth before driving a run home with a single to tie the game in the seventh. Kelly walked to open the ninth and when Ken Sanders threw wildly on a bunt by Andrews, Kelly took third and Andrews reached second. After an intentional pass to Allen, May hit his winning single.
