Hank Aaron, who hit his 2,000th single earlier in the game, came to bat in the 10th inning and smashed the 650th homer of his career to give the Braves a 6-5 victory over the Mets. Felix Millan homered for the Braves in the second, but the Mets slugged their way to a 5-2 lead with circuit clouts by Tom Seaver, Duffy Dyer and Ken Boswell.

However, in the eighth, Tommie Agee dropped a fly by Aaron, who scored on singles by Darrell Evans and Earl Williams. Dusty Baker then tripled to drive in the tying pair. [The Sporting News]
