With Leron Lee leading the way, the Padres defeated the Cubs, 4-3. Lee homered with a man on base in the first inning, knocked in another run with a double in the third and set up what proved to be the deciding tally with a single in the seventh.

Jerry Morales, who advanced to third on Lee's single, scored when Nate Colbert forced Lee. Billy Williams hit a two-run homer for the Cubs in the ninth inning. [The Sporting News]
