Pinch-hitter Steve Hovley came through with a run-scoring single with two out in the ninth inning to give the Royals a 3-2 victory over the Brewers. Richie Scheinblum led off with a single and John Mayberry walked, but the next two batters went out before Hovley hit his single, batting for Dick Drago, to drive in Tom Murphy, who ran for Scheinblum.
