. . . where the 1970s live forever!

With a Helmet Day crowd of 28,934 on hand, Dave Hamilton gained his fourth straight victory when the Athletics defeated the Indians, 3-2. The A's scored all their runs off Gaylord Perry in the fourth inning.

Joe Rudi was hit by a pitch and crossed the plate on a double by Reggie Jackson. After an intentional pass to Mike Epstein with one out, Angel Mangual drove in a run with a single and Dave Duncan followed with a double to plate what proved to be the winning marker. [The Sporting News]
