Helped by three errors, the Cubs took a 4-0 lead against Al Downing on five hits in the first four innings and proceeded to defeat the Dodgers, 7-2. Jose Cardenal homered for the Cubs' first two runs in the second after Jim Hickman was safe on a fumble by Billy Grabarkewitz.

Frank Robinson dropped a fly by Hicicman in the fourth. Ron Santo singled and when Willie Crawford booted the ball in left field, Hickman scored. Randy Hundley followed with a single to drive in Santo. [The Sporting News]
