The terrific relief pitching of Sparky Lyle enabled the Yankees to complete a sweep of a doubleheader with the 3-2 victory over the Rangers after Steve Kline won the first game, 2-0. Bernie Allen, who hit a double and single, scored both Yankee runs in the lidlifter, crossing the plate on a sacrifice fly by Horace Clarke in the fourth inning and on a perfect squeeze bunt by Kline in the sixth.
