Vida Blue, who had lost three decisions since ending his celebrated holdout, exhibited his 1971 form and pitched the Athletics to a 9-0 victory over the Indians. Mike Epstein homered in the second inning to start Blue on the way to his triumph, George Hendrick added a pair with a circuit clout in the fourth and the A's wrapped up their scoring with an outburst of six runs in the sixth.
