Winning his own game with a homer, Tom Seaver pitched the Mets to a 2-1 victory over the Reds and turned in his first route-going performance since April 26. Seaver walked both Pete Rose and Joe Morgan in the first inning and gave up the Reds' run on a single by Tony Perez.

Jim Fregosi singed and Duffy Dyer doubled to tie the score in the fourth. Seaver then helped himself with a homer off Ross Grimsley in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
