In the lidlifter, Phil Roof drove in two runs with a double in the second inning and scored himself on a single by Cesar Tovar to put the Twins ahead, 3-2. Harmon Killebrew homered in the third and, after a single by Tony Oliva and walk to Jim Nettles, Eric Soderholm also hit for the circuit to clinch the outcome. In the nightcap, the Twins scored all their runs in the second inning. Tovar drove in a pair with a single, stole second and scored himself on a single by Danny Thompson.
