Randy Hundley hit a grand-slam homer in the first inning as the Cubs exploded for seven runs en route to a 15-8 victory over the Giants. The Cubs scored their first three runs on three walks, two wild pitches and three singles before Hundley came up with the bases loaded and smashed his homer off Don Carrithers.

After the Giants cut their deficit to 7-6 with the aid of a three-run homer by Garry Maddox in the third, the Cubs scored five times in the fourth, with Hundley hitting a single for his fifth RBI of the game. A homer by Ron Santo with a man on base in the sixth and a solo swat by Billy Williams in the seventh completed the Cubs' seventh straight victory. [The Sporting News]
