The White Sox exploded for eight runs in the eighth inning and defeated the Brewers, 9-3. A single by Ed Herrmann with the bases loaded drove in the first two runs to tie the score at 3-3. Luis Alvarado followed with a single to send the White Sox ahead and, before the inning ended, five more runs scored on singles by Jim Lyttle and Pat Kelly, a pass to Carlos May and single by Dick Allen.
