Hitless in 20 trips, Tommie Agee snapped his slump with a double in the eighth inning to spark the Mets to a 5-4 victory over the Astros. After his double with the score tied, 3-3, Agee stopped at third on a single by Ken Boswell and crossed the plate on a grounder by Dave Marshall, who was safe at first when Tommy Helms fumbled the ball.

John Milner then singled, driving in Boswell with what proved to be the deciding run. Marshall had a homer earlier in the game for the Mets, while Doug Rader accounted for the Astros' last run with a circuit clout in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
