A two-run rally in the eighth inning brought the Expos a 2-1 victory over the Phillies. Oscar Gamble had four of the Phillies' nine hits off Mike Torrez and drove in their only run with a single in the eighth.

In the Expos' half, Ron Hunt singled and when Mike Jorgensen bunted, both runners were safe on an error by Terry Harmon. Following an intentional pass to Tim McCarver, Ron Fairly singled to drive in the tying run and Ron Woods hit a sacrifice fly to plate the winning tally. [The Sporting News]
