In keeping with Old-Timers Day at Shea Stadium, the Cardinals made the Mets look like their former inept selves by knocking out Tom Seaver and pounding their way to an 11-0 victory. The Cardinals scored three runs off Seaver in the first inning, added another tally in the fourth and forced the exit of the Mets' ace when Joe Torre singled, Ted Simmons doubled and Jose Cruz walked to load the bases in the fifth.
