The Athletics swept a doubleheader for the fifth straight time this season by defeating the Angels, 6-1 and 6-0. The Angels' only run of the day was unearned off Catfish Hunter, who pitched a three-hitter in the opener. Blue Moon Odom was the winner of the nightcap with help from Darold Knowles, who saved the shutout after relieving with two men on base in the ninth inning. Sal Bando homered with two men on base in the second and the A's wrapped up their scoring with three more runs in the third, two counting on a homer by Dave Duncan. [The Sporting News] |
