Bob Gibson gained his sixth straight victory and the Cardinals extended their winning streak to six games by defeating the Expos, 4-3. Joe Torre homered with two men on base in the first inning and the deciding run followed in the second on a single by Dal Maxvill and double by Lou Brock to beat Balor Moore, who had been called up by the Expos from Quebec City (Eastern).
