. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Although Ken Holtzman was stopped on a string of five straight complete games, the lefthander gained his 11th victory when the Athletics defeated the Rangers, 3-0. Holtzman was lifted after 8 1/3 innings and Darold Knowles completed the shutout.

Before leaving, Holtzman drove in the A's first run with a double in the seventh inning, scoring Tim Cullen, who had singled. The A's added a pair in the eighth on five singles. [The Sporting News]
