Bud Harrelson scored two runs and drove in one to lead the Mets to a 4-2 victory over the Pirates. John Milner homered for the Mets in the second inning, but the Pirates went ahead with a two-run single by Rennie Stennett in the sixth.

Harrelson doubled in the Mets' half of the sixth, moved to third on a fly ball and scored the tying run on an error by Richie Hebner. Ted Martinez led off the seventh with a single, stole second and counted the tie-breaking tally on a two-out single by Harrelson. Tommie Agee followed with a double to score Harrelson.
