Bobby Bonds, who had only one hit in his last 29 times at bat and none in his last 18 trips, smashed a homer in the 10th inning to lift the Giants to a 3-2 victory over the Braves. Chris Speier homered in the fourth and singled, stole second and scored the Giants' other run on a double by Dave Kingman in the eighth.

The Braves, after counting on a triple by Mike Lum and single by Marty Perez in the sixth, tied the game in the ninth on a walk to Orlando Cepeda, a wild pitch and single by Felix Millan that drove in pinch-runner Sonny Jackson. [The Sporting News]
