The Giants smashed seven extra-base hits, including homers by Chris Speler, Jim Howarth and Tito Fuentes, to defeat the Dodgers, 8-4. Speler accounted for the first run in the opening frame. Howarth connected in the third and Fuentes in the fourth, each with a man on base. Willie McCovey drove in two of the Giants' subsequent runs with a pair of doubles.

Ron Bryant extended his scoreless pitching streak to 23 innings before Wes Parker hit a two-run homer for the Dodgers in the sixth. Chris Cannizzaro produced the other pair with a circuit clout in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
