Mike Paul pitched six scoreless innings before going out for a pinch-hitter and gained the victory when the Rangers edged the Royals, 2-1. Dick Drago helped beat himself with an error that gave the Rangers their first run in the second inning.

Hal King singled, took third on a single by Ted Kubiak and scored when Drago threw wildly to the plate on a bunt by Paul. Toby Harrah singled in the seventh, stole second and counted the deciding run on a double by Don Mincher. [The Sporting News]
