With a helping hand from Frank Linzy, who relieved in the ninth inning, Jim Lonborg gained his fifth straight victory when the Brewers defeated the Angels, 4-2. The Brewers scored two runs off Lloyd Allen in the first inning and picked up their deciding pair in the ninth on two passes with the bases loaded, one issued by Rickey Clark to Ron Theobald and other by Mel Queen to Joe Lahoud.

In the Angels' half, Andy Kosco singled and Bob Oliver homered, breaking the California string of 23 scoreless innings before Linzy took over to save the game for Lonborg. [The Sporting News]
