Held to five hits, the Braves bunched four of them for four runs in the third inning and succeeded in defeating the Cubs, 4-3. Felix Millan led off with a single and was forced by Marty Perez. After George Stone sacrificed, Ralph Garr singled to score Perez. Dusty Baker followed with a two-run homer.

Hank Aaron then walked and scored what proved to be the winning run on a double by Darrell Evans. The Cubs were held to six hits by Stone, but chased him in the ninth when Jim Hickman walked and Ron Santo homered. [The Sporting News]
