A winner for the first time since June 24, Clyde Wright pitched the Angels to a 4-3 victory over the Yankees, who made the game close with two unearned runs. Ron Swoboda hit a pinch-homer for the Yankees' other tally.

The Angels had a homer by Ken McMullen in the second inning and picked up a run on a walk and singles by Leo Cardenas and Art Kusnyer in the fourth before adding their other pair on a single by Cardenas, triple by Sandy Alomar and single by Ken Berry in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
