Jim Fregosi, who hit a two-run homer for the Mets in the sixth, snapped a 3-3 tie with a single in the seventh. However, in the eighth, Jim Howarth and Bobby Bonds singled and, after a sacrifice by Garry Maddox, both runners scored on Speier's single. [The Sporting News]
