Two homers by Norm Cash and one by Jim Northrup accounted for five runs and enabled the Tigers to defeat the Rangers, 8-3. After the Tigers took a 3-0 lead in the first two innings, Cash and Northrup each homered with a man on base in the third to break the game wide open.

Don Mincher and Hal King homered, Mincher's blow coming with one aboard, to produce the Rangers' runs in the seventh. Cash then hit his second homer of the game for the Tigers in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
