Breaking a tight game wide open, the Royals exploded for seven runs in the 10th inning, with a grand slam by Cookie Rojas as the crowning blow, to defeat the Orioles, 11-4. Grant Jackson, who walked one batter, was the loser when the Royals went on to load the bases against Eddie Watt and Lou Piniella was hit by a pitch to force in the tie-breaking tally. The Royals added two more runs on hits by John Mayberry and Bobby Knoop before Rojas came up and smashed his slam off Mickey Scott. [The Sporting News]
