Mel Stottlemyre, who pitched the Yankees to a 5-0 victory, shut out the Angels for the third straight time this season and beat them for the 10th time in a row since June 30, 1967. Stottlemyre, who drove in two of the Yankees' runs with a bases-loaded single in the second inning, brought his career record against the California club to 17-3. [The Sporting News]
