. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Cubs bunched four hits with a sacrifice fly for three runs in the eighth inning and defeated the Braves, 5-3. With one out, Ron Santo and Joe Pepitone singled to chase George Stone. Jose Cardenal, who had hit a homer earlier in the game, greeted Pat Jarvis with a single, scoring Santo to break a 2-2 tie. Don Kessinger followed with a single to drive in Pepitone. After Denny McLain replaced Jarvis, Randy Hundley hit a sacrifice fly to add another tally. [The Sporting News]
