Danny Cater, who booted a ground ball to allow the Angels to score an unearned run, made up for his error with a pair of doubles to lead the Red Sox to a 4-1 victory. After the Angels got their run in the sixth inning to tie the score at 1-1, Cater came up with the bases loaded in the Red Sox half and doubled to drive in two runs. Cater doubled again in the eighth and scored on a single by John Kennedy.
