Aaron hit his 659th career homer, tying the record of Babe Ruth for most round-trippers with one club, but the Braves lost to the Pirates, 8-3. In addition to his 659 homers with the Yankees, Ruth also hit 49 with the Boston Red Sox and six with the Boston Braves for a total of 714. Aaron's round-tripper was more than offset by Gene Alley, Willie Stargell and Richie Hebner, who batted in two runs apiece for the Pirates. [The Sporting News]
