A double by Willie Mays in the fifth inning for the Mets' fourth and last hit scored Bud Harrelson from first base and beat the Dodgers, 2-1. Harrelson reached base on an error by Steve Garvey.

The Dodgers counted their run in the first on a single by Lee Lacy, a wild pitch and infield outs by Manny Mota and Willie Davis. Singles by Cleon Jones and Dave Schneck, an infield out by Ted Martinez and sacrifice fly by Jerry Grote produced the Mets' tying tally in the second. [The Sporting News]
