. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The batting of Earl Williams and Ralph Garr carried the Braves to a 6-3 victory over the Cardinals behind the relief pitching of Pat Jarvis. Williams drove in a run with a single in the first inning and iced the decision with a two-run homer in the seventh. In between, Garr broke a 2-2 tie with a double that sent two runs across the plate in the fourth.

A pulled hamstring muscle forced Jim Hardin off the mound after four innings. Jarvis gave up a homer by Ted Simmons in the fifth and then blanked the Cardinals the rest of the way. [The Sporting News]
