Willie Mays celebrated his first appearance in San Francisco in a Mets' uniform by hitting a two-run homer in the fifth inning to beat his former Giants' teammates, 3-1. A single by Ted Martinez, double by Jerry Grote and infield out by Bud Harrelson gave the Mets their first run before Mays came to the plate and smashed the 650th homer of his career. Chris Speier accounted for the Giants' run with a homer in the sixth. [The Sporting News] |
