Bob Gibson accounted for his own winning run with a homer as the Cardinals' ace defeated the Braves, 2-1, for his 11th straight victory. The Cardinals counted their first run off George Stone without the benefit of a hit in the first inning. Ted Sizemore was safe on an error, moved to second on a wild pitch, took third after a long fly and came home on another wild pitch.

Gibson smashed his homer over the center field fence in the sixth and, as a result, was able to shrug off a circuit clout by Darrell Evans for the Braves' run in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
