Frank Reberger, pitching his first complete game of the season for the Giants, was nicked for an unearned run in the fourth inning. The Giants tied the score in the fifth on a triple by Tito Fuentes and single by Ken Henderson.

Frisella, replacing Jerry Koosman in the ninth, walked Chris Speier, who raced to third on a single by Ed Goodson. The Mets elected to pass Fuentes intentionally. Then, with a count of one ball and two strikes on Dave Rader, Frisella uncorked his wild pitch, allowing Speier to score. [The Sporting News]
