The White Sox scored the winning run in the ninth inning of each game to sweep a doubleheader with the Indians. 2-1 and 4-3. Alex Johnson homered off Wilbur Wood for the Indians' run in the fifth inning of the lidlifter. Dick Allen homered to tie the score in the seventh and singled with one out in the ninth. Following a sacrifice by Ed Spiezio, Gaylord Perry walked Pat Kelly intentionally and also passed Ed Herrmann to load the bases. Jay Johnstone then batted for Luis Alvarado and singled on Perry's first pitch to drive in the winning run.

Carlos May won the nightcap for the White Sox by hitting his second homer of the game in the ninth inning. Ed Herrmann also homered, while the Indians had a two-run blow by Buddy Bell. [The Sporting News]
