Using singles instead of homers, Hank Aaron drove in all of the Braves' runs to beat the Cardinals, 3-2. Dusty Baker drew a walk in the first inning and took third on a single by Ralph Garr. After Garr stole second, Aaron sent both runners home with a single.

The Cardinals bunched three singles with an error for the tying tallies in the eighth, but in the Braves' half Sonny Jackson beat out a grounder to Dal Maxvill and raced to third on a wild throw by the Cardinals' shortstop. With one out, Garr walked, bringing up Aaron, who singled to drive in Jackson with the winning run. [The Sporting News]
