The Tigers, who were held to one hit until two out in the ninth inning, rallied for three runs on a homer by Norm Cash to win the first game of a doubleheader, 3-2, and then completed the sweep with an 8-5 victory over the Brewers in the second game. Bill Parsons, pitching the opener for the Brewers, had one out in the ninth when Aurelio Rodriguez was safe on an error by Mike Ferraro. Jim Northrup struck out, but Willie Horton singled and Cash followed with his winning homer.
