Luis Aparicio returned to the Red Sox lineup after a six-week layoff with a broken finger and drove in one run in support of Marty Pattin, who pitched a two-hitter and beat the Orioles, 2-0. The Red Sox were held hitless by Pat Dobson until the fifth inning when Carlton Fisk singled and took third on a single by Danny Cater. Fisk then scored when Aparicio forced Cater.
