A grand slam by Bobby Murcer in the seventh inning clinched the Yankees' 9-4 victory over the Brewers. Murcer also scored twice after reaching base on walks. The Yankees counted four times in the second on a double by Felipe Alou, pass to Murcer and four singles.

Murcer walked again in the third, stole second and scored on a single by Celerino Sanchez. Hits by Fritz Peterson, Thurman Munson and Roy White loaded the bases in the seventh for Murcer's slam off Archie Reynolds. [The Sporting News]
