Posting his second straight shutout, Dick Woodson pitched the Twins to a 4-0 victory over the Athletics. Vida Blue yielded all four runs before going out for a pinch-hitter after four innings on the mound.

A walk to Harmon Killebrew, single by Bobby Darwin and double by Steve Braun produced two runs in the first. An error resulted in another tally in the second and the final marker counted in the fourth on a double by Danny Thompson, sacrifice by Woodson and single by Cesar Tovar. [The Sporting News]
