Cleon Jones homered with a man on base in the first inning and John Milner followed with a solo swat to start the Mets off to a 12-2 victory over the Cubs. Milner drove in another run with a triple in the third and Jones accounted for his third RBI of the game with a double in the sixth. Jim Fregosi and Duffy Dyer batted in two runs apiece in the Mets' attack. [The Sporting News]
